My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pacino-at-a-glance: 8 year old, male, neutered, DSH, 12-13 lbs., up-to-date on core vaccines, microchipped, FeLV /FIV negative. Pacino requires  anxiety medication twice a day and is on a prescription c/d diet.

Pacino is THE bestest boy around! He wants to be the center of attention and adores long chin scratches. His black and white fur is effortlessly silky and elegant, but he isn't afraid to roll around and play hard. He loves his wand with feathery bait, will chase any rolling ball and favors toys that make fun crinkle sounds! They probably remind him of the sounds of food wrappers, which get him very excited. This kitty loves food and will let you know it! He wants to join in with whatever you're doing, eating, or watching so prepare to be pursued! An avid snuggler, he'll curl up on you in bed or on the couch. He builds trust fast, but is anxious about brooms and unfamiliar or loud noises. But he'll come over to you quickly if you catch his attention and call him over or pat your lap! Equal parts curious and cuddly, he'll put his face in your hand to pet his handsome nose, and give you a little kiss too. Whoever adopts this sweet diva into their home will quickly find Pacino nestled into their heart!

More about this rescue

LOVEPAWS was founded as an animal intake prevention program to help keep pets in homes and out of shelters. To do this, we offer various types of assistance to pet owners including our pet food pantry and our re-homing service. We help find new homes for pets whose owners cannot keep them but do not want to surrender their pet to the shelter. While our focus is on Prince George’s County, MD, we offer these services to the entire DC Metro area.

Our scope and mission has grown quickly since we were founded in 2019 and we now pull dogs and cats from open-admission, high-intake shelters in MD, VA and other Southern states. This has expanded our rescue to be able to save dogs and cats of all breeds. Our expanded mission is to save the lives of abandoned dogs and cats and place them in loving and permanent homes. While we are a non-breed-specific rescue, we are a pittie-friendly rescue that has a soft spot for the pit bulls at the Prince George’s County animal shelter. They face the heartbreaking reality of the county’s pit bull ban which makes them unavailable for adoption to the public. We are committed to stepping forward whenever we can and wherever there is the greatest need.

LOVEPAWS is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We are an exclusively foster-based rescue with our foster network spanning MD, DC, and VA.
