My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet little Squeakers, this sweet girl came to us as her guardians could no longer care for her. Shy but curious, Squeakers takes a little bit of time to warm up to you, but with plenty of patience, she will happily come and take treats from you. She loves exploring all her hidey holes, with her favourite being her soft squashy blue bed. She has lots fun exploring her enclosure after you've tidied up and switched out all her enrichment! Little Squeakers is ready to find her forever home, and can't wait to meet her new family.

If you think you can offer Squeakers a loving and patient home, please fill out an application online or pop in to meet her at the shelter! Animal viewing hours are 12-3pm Tuesday-Sunday.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
