Hidy! My name is Gandalf! I am a two-year-old retriever mix. I was hanging around a neighborhood looking for food and some kindness not too long ago. A kind neighbor saw me and called Animal Control. I rode in with the nice deputy and I have been waiting in my big dog run getting ready for adoption. I have all of my vaccinations, I have a microchip, and I have been neutered. One small problem did show up on my health check up. I am heartworm positive. But I am not worried, because I already have my appointment for my first treatment! Maybe you could foster me through my treatment and then make me a member of your family!! FYI...When you meet me you will discover that I have a "crazy" looking tail! I don't know exactly what happened to it, but it is a good conversation starter!!

The placement of our adoptable animals into loving, caring homes and thereby enhancing the bond between animals and people is the primary goal of the Montgomery Humane Society Adoption Program. We focus on education so that every pet owner benefits from their contact with the shelter, whether or not they adopt an animal from us. Matching the needs of the animal and the potential owner, as well as educating potential owners about responsible pet ownership, helps to ensure successful pet placements of shelter animals.

The Montgomery Humane Society prevents cruelty to animals by operating an animal shelter for homeless, abandoned, and unwanted animals; by operating an adoption center for healthy animals; by investigating cruelty and abuse cases; and by educating the public in animal owner responsibility.
