A beautiful long- haired grey cat like myself should never have to beg. But, maybe a polite request for your attention? You see, I`m here in `the small animal room` at the Shelter, and a lot of folks overlook me. Most days that`s okay because I don`t like a lot of stimuli-- keep the noise down and don`t put me in with a lot of cats. I really like when my volunteer picks me up and holds me. And I`m just fine with getting petted until I`ve had enough--I twitch my tail faster and my volunteer knows to put me down again. Now, that isn`t too difficult is it, Santa ? I just need someone to adopt me who pays attention and would like petting me, maybe in a nice quiet home with a soft couch ???. Remember, whoever my human is will be getting a beautiful cat who will be their cat furever. Thanks for sharing my letter, Santa, because sometimes it`s a little lonely here. Lakeland Animal Shelter is centrally located three miles south of Elkhorn, WI. on highway 67, and it is the only animal shelter in Walworth County. Its doors are open to the public six days a week except on legal holidays. The shelter is staffed by dedicated and trained employees. Volunteers also play a crucial role in meeting many of the shelter's special care needs.
Provide temporary care for stray, abandoned and unwanted animals.
Own and operate a rescue vehicle to pick up stray pets from municipal holding areas and private citizens.
Respond to injured animal emergencies 24 hours a day.
Employ a humane Officer to investigate cruelty and abuse complaints.
Maintain records on lost and found pets
Have available humane live traps for animals requiring capture.
Seek good homes for pet adoptions.
Provide a resource library.
