My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello handsome! This beautiful boy is Yogi and he is a sweet 4.5 year old Great Dane/Lab mix who is the epitome of a gentle giant! He loves toys, other playful dogs, people, and especially kids. He is careful around small dogs and kids and will lay down to play at their level. Despite his size he's pretty easygoing and the biggest lovebug you'll ever meet. He loves scratches behind the ears and attaches quickly to his people. Yogi is content to nap and snuggle most of the time, but when something fun comes around, he is always up for an adventure! Yogi is house trained and very smart. He knows several commands already and is eager to please. He is very food motivated, and he'd love a person to continue teaching him new things! He doesn't love being in a crate, but he is working on being independent. Despite his size, he is a good boy and knows not to get on counters or jump on people. Adopt Yogi, and he will shower you with love and show you endless loyalty!

Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-served basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. ALL CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200. Additional adoption info

Since we make a lifetime commitment to any animal that comes into our program, we only adopt out animals to people in our area..

If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at http://www.caws.org/application/, email adopt@caws.org or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.

Go meet their pets

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.

More about this rescue

Founded in 1992 the Community Animal Welfare Society ( CAWS) is one of the oldest no-kill animal rescues in Utah. Over the last 20 years CAWS, our fosters and supporters have saved thousands of lives including over 600 last this year. As the largest foster home network in the state of Utah we focus on high risk pets in need of additional care and rehabilitation
