My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Derk is a fresh, healthy, fixed 1 yr old male. He loves to be with people and especially loves teenagers. He’s a very smart boy and will do anything for treats. He knows all basic commands, sit, shake, lay. He’s working on stay and come. He is not crate trained but we’re working on that as well. He has a foster sister he loves to play with. He fetches when he’s in the mood and loves tug o war.
He is not food aggressive with people, we are able to pet him and take away a bowl without any issues. However, he needs to be fed separate from his foster sister. He does have some mild aggression towards his foster sister when preparing bowls.
He’s a very smart goofy toddler boy that needs a loving patient home. He has not been socialized properly so opening up that new world to him will make him even better than he already is.

More about this rescue

Quincy's Hope was founded with the belief that every dog's life has value. We exist solely to make sure that unwanted, neglected, abused and homeless dogs find their place in the world. Our job is to ensure that they find a loving forever home. We do that by taking all of the steps necessary to provide health care, training for all of our dogs and proper home checks to potential adoptive families interested in adoption in hopes to prevent our last chance pups from ending up in a shelter. We work closely with shelters near and far to help reduce the rate of euthanasia for dogs in the eleventh hour. We also provide spay/neuter, food assistance and other services to those less fortunate in order to keep pets with their families. Education is of utmost importance to our rescue and we have programs in place to provide education to our local community regarding the importance of spaying, neutering, vaccinations and overbreeding of dogs. We are a foster-based network of volunteers and we are always looking for approved foster families to help us in our quest to place homeless dogs in loving families.
