My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

For The Cats' Sake

M EADOW is a two year old Tortoiseshell but without the Torti-tude they sometimes have. She came to us as a little kitten two years ago, and her very feral mom. Little Meadow was a real momma's baby, and her mom was super protective, so it took us longer to really socialize her due to that dynamic. Her mom was really miserable inside, being a true feral, and we decided she would be happier to go to a good barn home. MEADOW on the other hand was still young so we chose to work with her. It took a little while, but she is now friendly with other cats and people. She's not going to jump up on your lap, but is loving and beautiful. We hope there are some Tortie lovers out there, who might add this sweet girl to their family!

ONLINE ADOPTION FORM:        https://form.jotform.com/81848821130152

We do not have a fixed adoption fee at For The Cats' Sake, but instead ask for a tax-deductible donation to our group. On average, we spend at least $125 to cover foster care, testing for FeLV and FIV, vaccinations, flea treatment, deworming and any vet care/medicine that is needed. We ask that you cover as much of the $125 as you can afford, and set a minimum donation at $50. Our goal is to find the best home for each animal, and we feel this policy makes it possible for more people to adopt one or more cats. It is important to us that every adopter can afford to care for their pets properly and give them a home for life.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process begins with an application which includes vet references and landlord permission for renters. Potential adopters are encouraged to visit the cats/kittens in their foster homes so they see them in a comfortable situation. In many instances a volunteer will deliver the cat/kitten to their new home to assist the family in preparing their home getting the adoption off to a good start. More about this rescue

For The Cats' Sake was founded in 2014 in response to a need for TNR in Rappahannock County, Virginia. Since that time, we have encountered many situations where there is no place for the cats to be returned. In other instances the cats are friendly or there are momma cats too pregnant to be spayed, or young kittens that are adoptable, but need socialization and foster care. Currently we have about 40 cats and kittens in foster care being prepared for adoption. All felines are Up to Date on vaccinations and tested for Feline Leukemia and FIV. Depending on age at time of adoption, they are also Spayed/Neutered.
