Rescue FAQs

For The Cats' Sake was founded in 2014 in response to a need for TNR in Rappahannock County, Virginia. Since that time, we have encountered many situations where there is no place for the cats to be returned. In other instances the cats are friendly or there are momma cats too pregnant to be spayed, or young kittens that are adoptable, but need socialization and foster care. Currently we have about 40 cats and kittens in foster care being prepared for adoption. All felines are Up to Date on vaccinations and tested for Feline Leukemia and FIV. Depending on age at time of adoption, they are also Spayed/Neutered.
We were founded in 2014 to serve the Piedmont region of Virginia, including Culpeper, Fauquier, Rappahannock and Warren counties.

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
    1. Fill out our online application, and we'll call to find out what type of kitty you are interested in, and schedule a visit.
  2. Visit the Facility and Find a Pet
    1. Cats or kittens are generally viewed at our main foster location Flint Hill, when they are ready for adoption, so you willhave a good choice
  3. Home Check
    1. We will deliver your kitty to you and do a basic home check at that time. All vet records will be provided then and the contract signed.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process begins with an application which includes vet references and landlord permission for renters. Potential adopters are encouraged to visit the cats/kittens in their foster homes so they see them in a comfortable situation. In many instances a volunteer will deliver the cat/kitten to their new home to assist the family in preparing their home getting the adoption off to a good start. There are no set fees, we request a donation.
