My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Super snuggly and ultra loving, social good boy GUS is desperate for a cozy bed in a warm forever home.

Five year old 50 lb Gus is a very special boy with a lot of love to give! This handsome dog bonds very deeply to his person or people and loves spending quality time hanging out with them. He is the ulti-mutt couch potato! Gus wants to sleep next to you, sit with you on the couch and to be your car buddy. Gus is dog friendly, quickly finding his place within the 4 dog pack at his last foster home, but nothing makes him more content than to be by your side. Gus responds well to structure - designated meal times, positive reinforcement with treats, clear verbal communication, etc...because he WANTS to make you happy. Gus is obedient to those he loves, devoting his every being to them. Since he is such a gentleman, he knows how to be polite in a home. He knows how to wait until he's given permission to walk though doorways and to wait for his food quietly as you're preparing it for him. Food is the most effective reward for Gus - he loves his treats! And he takes them so gently. He is as quiet as he is sweet - the only time he whines is when he wants to be with you but is either crated or blocked by a door or gate. Sweet gentle Gus has been through so much, he really deserves a home that will love him and never give up on him. He loves to love and be loved!

If you can open your heart & home to dear Gus please contact AmsterDog at 917-689-8414 or by e-mail at info@amsterdog.org. Apply to adopt (or foster to adopt) Gus at AmsterDog.org.

Thanks for caring about a pet in need!

Go meet their pets

AmsterDog Rescue does not have its own facility. Instead, we rely on fosters to care for our beloved animals. Our available animals may change depending on your location and we do transport animals for adoptions within a reasonable distance. Since you will possibly be speaking with and meeting a foster directly, an application must be filled out prior to meet and greets.

For adoption inquiries, please contact AmsterDog Rescue at 917-689-8414 or info@amsterdog.org. To get the process started, please fill out our online application at www.amsterdog.org/application.
