My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Lainey, a delightful blend of Cattle Dog and Australian Shepherd with a coat as unique as her personality! Rescued with love, Lainey's intelligence, sweetness, and stunning coat make her a one-of-a-kind companion.

This clever girl is a quick learner, eager to please and always ready to show off her skills. But don't let her smarts fool you - Lainey knows how to kick back and relax too. She loves nothing more than napping near her favorite humans, her colorful coat shining purple in the sunlight.

When she's not busy charming everyone with her brilliance, Lainey enjoys gnawing on her toys with gusto. Her joyful spirit and gentle nature make her a hit with people and pets alike.

FEE INCLUDES: Adopting an adult dog (6 months or older) includes spaying/neutering, vaccinations, deworming, flea & tick prevention, heartworm testing, and microchipping.

For dogs under 6 months, they receive age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, flea/tick prevention, and microchipping. All dogs are spayed/neutered by 6 months, covered within the adoption fee. The procedure must be done at one of our partner clinics.

To begin the adoption process, please submit an application on our website: www.hbwi.org/adopt. Once approved, you'll have the opportunity to meet our available dogs. Following the meeting, you can initiate a 5-day Adoption Trial, allowing you to take the dog home. This trial period is designed to ensure the dog is a match for you and aligns with your lifestyle. After the 5-day trial, if all goes well, the adoption will be finalized. Additionally, we require a home visit once the dog is settled in its new home to ensure a smooth transition for both the dog and the adopter.

Go meet their pets

As a foster-based rescue organization, we do not have a central boarding facility for our animals. If you are interested in meeting one of our available animals, we highly encourage you to submit an adoption application. Once approved, you will be able to meet our animals.

More about this rescue

In 2024, Homeward Bound Animal Rescue of WI emerged from the compassionate efforts of two dedicated women, both seasoned veterans in the world of rescue.

Our mission is clear: to prevent animal cruelty and neglect through foster-based rescue and rehoming initiatives. We strive to support both animals and their owners by fostering a sense of community and promoting responsible pet ownership.

Together, we lend our hand in the name of rescue, ensuring every animal receives the love, care, and support they deserve.
