My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**About FiFi:**
Thank you for interested in adopting FiFi. Please know that FiFi is an international rescue through Taiwan. When your application is approved, you will need to pick her up from the airport - such as SFO, SEA, JFK, LAX, ONT, IAH, YVR etc. International adoption is not a complicated process and we‘ve done the process many years. We would be happy to explain to you how the process works.

Fifi’s Background: Fifi was 3 months old when she was rescued in March 2023. Three months later, in June 2023, she was adopted by her previous family. In September 2023, the family learned that Fifi had issues with her hip joint growth, which required corrective surgeries to fix the issue permanently. Despite the doctor’s assurance that the condition was very treatable with surgeries, the family decided they did not want to keep her. As a result, the original rescuer took Fifi back. Upon her return, the rescuer noticed that Fifi was scared of big movements or hand-waving, leading them to believe that the family may have used physical punishment as a form of discipline. The rescuer worked diligently to rehabilitate Fifi, and she has since returned to her happy and spirited self.

Fifi’s Hip Surgery and Recovery: The main reason for Fifi’s return was her hip joint issues, which the rescuer was able to address by funding her necessary surgeries. The procedures were successful, and Fifi is now in the process of rehabilitation. Her treating doctor has indicated that she should no longer have issues related to her hip joints. However, it is recommended to limit her from excessive exercise. Fifi enjoys running and walking, and these activities do not pose any problems for her. She loves the outdoors and enjoys going on walks to explore and sniff around. At the same time, Fifi can also be a home companion, happily cuddling with you on the couch to watch TV. Fifi is a sweet dog who truly deserves someone who understands and loves her.

1. Confident, Willing to approach new surroundings

Fifi is a sociable and affectionate dog who loves both humans and other dogs. While she enjoys being petted, she can be sensitive when her back/hip area is touched, occasionally holding your hand with her mouth if she feels uncomfortable (no biting). Fifi is a lively and energetic dog who loves to play, but her attention can sometimes be easily distracted when she’s having a good time.

2. Willing to approach strangers.  If you come into her space, she’s submissive and ok with it.
Fifi LOVES to be around people and is comfortable with strangers, and will play with them.  She’s not shy at all.

3. Fifi likes children and is submissive.  However, she doesn’t like her back legs/hip being touched or pressured.  She tends to move away when this happens.

4.  Fifi enjoys the company of all dogs, regardless of their size, and becomes excited when meeting new canine friends. She will sniff new dogs, but doesn’t always initiate play immediately, as she can get easily distracted by her surroundings. However, in a group setting with multiple dogs, she adapts well and fits in comfortably with her canine companions.

5.  Fifi is curious about cats.  She tends to approach them to seek them out.  Due to her excitement to meet new friends, some cats might need more space from her.

Food:  Fifi LOVES food and will pay extra attention to you if you have food or treats.

Behaviors she dislikes: Nothing except she’s sensitive about her back and hip area being touched.  She would walk away from you if she’s uncomfortable with you.

Fear: No, not to people or things or noise.
Chewing behaviors: Yes if she’s bored or not enough exercise.  Typically she would just dismantle toys (stuff toys in particular) or food items.

Food allergy: No
Picky with food: No
Treats:  Yes, to reward appropriate behaviors or just regular dental treats/chews.

Food guarding: No
If other dogs want to eat her food, she just continues eating her own food.  No guarding behaviors with dogs or humans.  However, we have not observed her with children taking her food yet.

Bathroom behaviors: Morning, afternoon, and evening.
Fifi prefers to do her business outside.  She knows how to use pee pads indoor if needed.  She is house trained.

Barking:
Fifi barks at new and unknown things.  She doesn’t have separation anxiety and does not bark when left alone.  She stops immediately when she thinks the things/items she doesn’t like or feel threatened are gone.

Bathing:
Fifi is not a fan but she tolerates it (both washing and drying).  She tolerates nail clipping and ear cleaning.

Leash Walking: Fifi is generally well-behaved on a leash, but when she gets excited, she may exhibit pulling behaviors. As previously mentioned, she is a curious dog who enjoys exploring her surroundings. Due to her hound traits, her nose often leads her during walks, which can sometimes result in distractions.

FiFi is still in Taiwan. If you are interested in adopting FiFi  please go through our international adoption process. FiFi is ready for her forever sweet home.

Go meet their pets

We will have adoption events twice a month at different pet store, or come meet our pet at our foster home. We have two different foster homes located in CA/WA/OR area.

More about this rescue

We are a small group of pet rescuers in CA and WA/OR from Taiwan.
We rescue dogs and cats that needs help around us.
Save a life don't need a reason, it's just a beautiful things that everyone should do.
Seeing those once starved,
maltreated and homeless dogs transforming into confident, lively fur babies is what propels us. Finding a loving, forever home for the rescued dogs has been our ultimate goal.
---
For over 10 years, our foundation has been providing rescue dogs for international adoption to families in cities such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Vancouver. After the application and approval process, we fly the dogs with volunteers to the desired destination for the completion of your adoption.

Formosa Mountain Dog (FMD) is a type of Taiwanese mixed breed. Most of it is Labrador or shepherd and Taiwan dog mixd breed. The rescues are usually abandoned, abused, and/or without a home. We take them in, provide them with a complete health check up, and spay and neuter as needed. Their information is then posted on our websites and social media, ready to be adopted.

You will see that most of our dogs are still in Taiwan. Only a few are local. The process of adoption takes careful consideration of the application and understanding of the environment to which we will send the adoptees. Currently, we do not have enough foster homes for an intermediary home, so we have to make sure there is a home for the rescues before we send them overseas.

As the dogs await their forever homes, we will continuously update their growth through photos and videos. This helps to provide the adopting families with more understanding of the temperament of the dogs to be ready for their adoption. Finally, after 14 hours of air travel, with the aid of our volunteers, the adopting family (you) will just need to arrive at the airport to meet your new family member!
