My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Alpha (A134162) is a 5-year-old Alaskan Husky x Lab mix who weighed 95.1 pounds on intake!

04/11/24 Alpha was surrendered to the shelter in hopes that she could find a new family to love! Alpha was said to do great with children and ignores babies. If she is unsure of a stranger, she may bark and back away, but after the introduction has been properly made, she’s a happy girl! Overall, she was described as an outgoing, friendly, and affectionate dog. Alpha was said to be kennel-trained and housebroken. She also knows a variety of commands like sit, stay, lay, and shake! Alpha was said to experience separation anxiety and really likes to be near her people or another animal friend. We encourage her next owner to discuss with their vet best ways to help her with her anxiety. Alpha was said to love attention and bonds very quickly. Alpha was also said to be very close with her sister dog Omega, and her owners are looking to rehome Omega, too, if you are interested in the pair. Alpha was known to bark at new dogs that she met but then instigated play! Her prior owner felt that she may have the desire to chase after cats, so she Alpha would most likely do best in a home without smaller critters. Alpha is very overweight and would highly benefit from going on a diet. This will not only help her physical health but also her mental health. Now that the weather is also warming up, we’re sure she’d love to get out on more walks! If you are interested in meeting Alpha, please let us know!
