My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Max is 17” tall, 28 lbs, and is a handsome 2½-year-old boy with a great personality and potential!

Max joined Midwest BREW when his previous family surrendered him a couple of months ago through no fault of his own. A typical day for Max is waking up, going outside for a potty break, exploring the yard and all of the new scents, and then heading inside for breakfast. Throughout the day, his favorite activity is to lie in front of the window performing his “neighborhood watch” duties. If he sees someone approaching, he will let out an “AROOO!” to notify you (and all within earshot, so he wouldn’t be well suited for apartment life or neighbors who are not dog friendly.) He also likes to take naps, and on other days, he goes to doggy daycare where he enjoys playing with the bigger dogs. In the evening, after dinner, he enjoys more time outside and then hangs out wherever the humans are before retiring to the big human bed, where he’ll sleep until it's time to get up.

Max seems to have lacked some basic training as a puppy. He needs a home that will be willing to invest extra time in him to teach him new things. His immediate needs are to learn how to walk on a leash without pulling or jumping, and not to bark at other dogs and people. He’s done very well with what little he has learned, but dog training would be a major benefit. He is a smart boy so he will be able to learn.

He is 100% house-trained and has not had a single accident since arriving. Although he has an energetic side, he can also lie calmly on the couch at night and does not need constant attention. He also does not have any bad habits other than the occasional countersurfing!

An ideal home for Max is one where he is the only dog, and will invest in his future development. His friendly and playful nature and positive qualities is sure to bring joy and laughter to the right home.

If you feel that Max is a good fit, please let us know!

NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

More about this rescue

BREW Midwest is the midwest region of BREW Inc. (Beagle Rescue, Education and Welfare). We are a network of volunteers and foster homes across Western PA, OH, MI, IN and IL.

Our Mission:
*Rescue beagles in danger of euthanasia from shelters
*Help beagles that have been removed from neglectful or abusive situations
*Educate families about beagles and their special qualities
*Find kind, loving families for homeless or abandoned beagles.

BREW is dedicated to rescuing and re-homing beagles. The main focus is beagles in shelters that are faced with imminent extermination. BREW works with shelters and animal control facilities and adopt beagles to families throughout our region. In addition to our rescue efforts, BREW is dedicated to increasing public awareness of pet overpopulation and encouraging pet owners to spay and neuter their pets. Towards that end, no beagle over six months of age is adopted from BREW without being spayed or neutered. BREW also works to alert people about the disadvantages of purchasing pets from a "pet store."
