My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Montee. She is a beautiful, sweet, affectionate, loving girl who deserves someone who will love her back with everything they've got. She craves attention from her human and would make an excellent lap kitty.

While Montee has lived with another cat before, she doesn't want to share her home with other kitties who will be in her face, stealing her toys, or monopolizing your attention, if you don't mind. She's in a foster home with several cats now, but would do best as the only cat in her new home, or possibly with one other cat, as long as her cat roomie is super chill, plans to ignore her, and promises not to walk around in front of her a whole lot.

She's good about using her scratching post and is litter box trained, of course. Montee is a fluffy kitty, but she also needs to lose some lbs. Her adopter must be committed to helping in that effort through Montee's diet and daily exercise/play. She is fond of wand toys, so playing with Montee will be entertaining for both of you.

Montee's looking for a new home because her mama suffered a catastrophic health emergency. She's been hospitalized since October 2023 and knows it isn't fair to Montee to keep being passed around while she works to recover. Montee's mama asked that we find Montee the very best home, so don't even bother applying if you aren't going to treat Montee like the fluffy princess that she is!

Montee is about 8 years old, spayed, and up to date on vaccines.

Please call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 if you can help. She's in the KC metro, but transport is available to the right home.

More about this rescue

Since 1999, The Pet Connection has found homes for more than 7,000 animals and rehabilitated hundreds of dogs and cats with aggression, fear and anxiety issues. We have spayed or neutered over 8,000 dogs and cats in our own free and low-cost clinics since 2002 and assisted another 5,800 pets with low-cost services since 2006. The Pet Connection was founded in 1999 in Mission, Kansas, to offer shelter for homeless pets, adoptions and training. We were one of the first no-kill advocacy groups in the Kansas City metro area and the first cage-free facility in Johnson County to offer education about available spay and neuter programs. In 2006, The Pet Connection relocated to a facility in Mission that enabled all dogs and cats to have their own rooms while awaiting adoptive homes or being rehabilitated due to behaviors that hindered adoption prospects. The Pet Connection currently focuses on pet adoptions, dog and cat training, aggressive dog rehabilitation, and classes for pet owners. We were the first in this area to offer free training/behavior classes to adopters.

The Pet Connection trainers and behavior members use a team approach in order to implement the ideas that have the highest success rate. Our five behavioral trainers working out of the Kansas City metro have a variety of backgrounds applicable to dog training and behavior. The Pet Connection implements positive reinforcement training methods, where the dog learns to face the trigger, but to respond appropriately. Read about our experienced trainers under “Meet the Team" on our website at www.thepetconnection.net.

The Pet Connection has always been committed to being no-kill advocates. We have been involved in many projects with local and national organizations to help Kansas City progress in how homeless pets are cared for and to improve the services that they receive. Our organization is a 501c3 charity in the state of Kansas, and has always provided thousands of dollars worth of supplies, including cat litter, food, toys, beds and dog houses, to other rescues and shelters.
