My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there, my name is Hershey and I am a handsome German Shorthaired Pointer & Terrier mix, about 1 year old, and I weigh 65 lbs. My foster mom found me when I was a puppy roaming around a South Texas mall by myself. Nobody claimed me, so she brought me home and took very nice care of me. Now that I am neutered and have had all my vaccines I am ready to find a forever family.

I am a very sweet boy, friendly with everyone young and old, and I get along great with other dogs. We have a kitty cat in the house and although I will bark at him, I have never chased him. I am playful and love squeaky toys, and running zoomies. My foster mom calls me her loveable goofball because sometimes when I’m romping around I’ll trip over my own big paws. I am affectionate but not overly and I enjoy hanging out with my people. I am already housebroken and know how to use a doggy door. I sleep in a doggy bed and even though I am not in love with being in a crate I will tolerate it without a fuss. I only bark to alert, and am practicing some leash walking and doing great. There is a rescue dog transport van heading to Connecticut next week and I will be on board and on my way to meet whoever adopts me!

* We encourage you to send us an email with your #1, #2, and #3 choices, and we will be happy to help you find a pup to complete your family! Also, please continue watching our listings as we post new dogs multiple times a week. There is no need to fill out another application, just let us know what other dogs you are interested in as they come up.

Additional adoption info

Please DO NOT apply unless the entire family / household is on board with adopting one of our dogs. We must receive an application for you to move forward in the process. Thoughtful direct emails are welcome and will be answered. However, an application is still a necessary step. We want to make sure we find our dogs a perfect fit with a family so both the dog and the family are happy. We keep our dogs with fosters once we get them out of shelters for a little bit to learn and understand their personalities. Our relationship with families doesn't stop at adoption! We are always available for any follow up questions and are happy to be a resource as you and your new pet settle into a routine.
