Emily Evergreen entered the Humane Society of Imperial County as a stray, and when she wasn't claimed, we scooped her up on April 12th to become a Frosted Face. She is 12 years old, weighs 8 lbs. and is a little love bug! She is so sweet and loves to be picked up and cuddled.
A volunteer took Emily Evergreen on a solo outing to the park, and she had SO much fun! Her vision is impaired, but she doesn't let that slow her down. Afterwards, our volunteer shared:
"Emily is excellent in the car! She curled up and snoozed in the passenger seat bed. She enjoyed the park, walking all over, exploring and smelling all the new scents. She had fun trying to burrow in the gigantic heavy park blanket, and then she snoozed in the grass.
Emily kisses on the first date, as you can see the video! She's affectionate, opted to cuddle up to me, and pushed my hand away from my phone to pet her. Emily loved her pup cup treat afterwards!"
Emily Evergreen went on a two-week Frosted Fling, so we could learn what she is like in a home. Her Fling Mom reports;
"Emily Evergreen is smart, resourceful, and loving. Although she can't see, her hearing and smell senses are perfect. Being blind hasn't stopped this girl from learning the layout of the house!
Emily can get herself in/out of the house, has found multiple dog beds throughout the house, and of course, plots her way to the kitchen for meals. This little girl has found her voice. I haven't figured out all her barks, but I do know she's barked for food and to go out to potty.
Emily sleeps through the night, hasn't had any accidents, and doesn't show any separation anxiety. She did sleep a lot the first several days, but has now started to hang out closer to where I am. She enjoys being held, and I pet her frequently. Emily likes spending time on the porch with my mom, and she sweet sits at her feet. (See photo.)
Emily pops her head up when you call out to her, and I talk to her before I pick her up, so she's not startled. Some people are afraid to adopt a blind dog, but blind dogs feel your love, and love you just as much as sighted dogs. Emily Evergreen is ready for a forever home- will it be with you?"
Emily Evergreen is back on-site! Swing by to meet her during an Open House:
Thursday 5:00-8:00 pm
Saturday 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Sunday 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
