Meet Beignet: This adorable 8-month-old female Chihuahua/Dachshund mix joined out program due to the diligence and persistence of local rescuers who trapped her and her sister (Roux) behind a local Drugstore after they had been spotted abandoned there and where too shy to come directly to the rescuers - as far as trapping goes, this rescue was pretty quick and easy, they were ready to be rescued! Beignet is still a little shy when meeting new people, but thanks to her sister and the other dogs in the foster home, she is quickly learning the house rules and routines, she loves to play with other dogs, is checking out toys and LOVEs snuggling on the sofa. She does not yet love being crated (at this time for private meals only) and is still learning the concept of walking on leash, but she is smart and sweet and wants to learn. Oh, and she loves treats, so that helps.

Beignet is looking for a home with another dog for her to play with and the learn from, someone with experience with shy dogs would be a bonus, she'll need a little patience in the beginning. She will repay kindness with snuggles and entertainment.

Meet the Pet

Once your application has been approved you will be contacted to setup a meet and greet with your family and the foster dog and family

Home Check

We will bring the dog for a home visit and complete the contract and start the trial adoption period

Additional adoption info

We are a foster based rescue group without a shelter or kennel facility, all of our dogs are housed in private homes of volunteers. Our Adoption Process begins with an application on our website: http://www.twyla.org/adopt/our-adoption-process

We hold adoption meetups twice monthly - please note that not all dogs come to all meetups.
We are also happy to organize meet and greets in between our adoption days at mutually convenient times, after your application has been processed.

Our Adoption fee is $250. All our animals have been thoroughly vetted are neutered or spayed, vaccinated, wormed, heartworm tested and microchipped.

There is no animal shelter in Kingwood.

Twyla's Friends is a foster home based adoption organization. We care for lost and abandoned dogs in foster homes until we're able to place them in a permanent home.

We are about responsible placement of these rescued animals and about responsible pet ownership!
