My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

To meet Kelly, please email woof@thehausofdogs.com

Kelly is a senior girl that isn't used to the shelter environment. She likes to get out in the yard on her leash and does well but hasn't been a fan of being picked up. Though she reportedly did great with the finders dogs, she was not a fan of another chihuahua she met while at the adoption center. At her age, Kelly is looking for a relaxing home where she can just be herself. She would love a warm comfy bed inside and a nice grassy yard to call her own.

More about this rescue

We opened in December 2019 as a dog cafe. 3 months later we had to shut down due to Covid. We resumed operations in December 2020 but are solely doing adoptions. We hope to reopen the cafe sometime in the future. Our CEO has 3 dogs that she adopted from a shelter. Her experience at a high-kill shelter inspired her to start a halfway home for dogs while searching for their forever home. Our dogs spend a considerable amount of time playing with one another, thanks to proper introduction and close supervision during playtime. We only take in a small number of dogs to ensure each one gets plenty of one-on-one time with us. This also allows us to work with more fearful/shy/reactive dogs and adopt them out once they’re ready.
