My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Minnow came into rescue on March 8 at just 4 weeks old and 2.7lbs.

Now, he weighs 5.2 lbs and is estimated to weigh no more than 7lbs when he reaches adulthood.

Because he came in so young, he has been mentored by an 120lb female Akita, a 100lb male Alaskan Malamute, German Shepherd, Samoyed and Husky mix, and, a 50lb female Blue Heeler.

He is smart, playful and silly, potty trained and fearless while understanding boundaries set by the other dogs.

Minnow has had his first two sets of puppy vaccinations, been dewormed, and is microchipped. Due to his age and size, neuter will be deferred and he will only be placed under an ironclad Foster-to-Adopt Agreement.

Additional adoption info

We want a successful, lifelong match between an Adopter and their new pet. We carefully evaluate each animal in our care and carefully screen each adopter to ensure there is a fit. We require any potential adopters to first complete an Adoption Application and go through a background, home, and reference check. All adopters are then required to sign an Adoption Agreement.

Akita Angels Inc. does not currently participate in local adoption events. We will post information about any upcoming events.

More about this rescue

We have designed and implemented a more proactive approach to rescue by working first to keep the dog in the home. We believe that begins with adopters knowing as much as they can about a dog's breed and characteristics before they adopt. We also provide unlimited, no cost support to families with the goal of creating a better relationship between the family and the dog, and help keep the dog in the home.
