My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Crash came to us at 12-weeks-old after he was hit by a car.  He suffered a fractured pelvis and some road rash on his tummy. He was immediately sent to our amazing orthopedic doctor who performed an FHO surgery on him.  Crash has done a,azingly well and fully recovered.  He still has a limp and favors the leg but that will just take some time and regaining strength. He is housetrained and kennel trained.

All of that being said, do NOT tell Crash he is anything but a very happy and full of life puppy.  He is now about 5-months-old.  This guy runs with his 4 other foster siblings who are all big German Shepherds. He is such a handsome boy and watching him run at full puppy speed is truly poetry in motion and quite the blessing. He runs and plays hard with the youngest of the siblings and believe me, he has been rolled over and gets up and goes right back into full puppy play mode. At night, when his foster mom is hanging out with the "kids" he loves to be loved and cuddled.  He is also very happy to hang out on one of the many dogs beds and has no problem sharing with another dog.  He actually likes that as he tends to play with them even while laying down.  He is not spoiled at all.  :)  Not even when his foster mom picks him up and lets him sleep on her bed with the big dogs.  He is truly very social and does great with all dogs and people.  He is a bit of a talker when he wants something though.

All Lani’s Lucky Shepherds receive an individual examination by a local veterinarian, are current on vaccinations, spay or neutered, microchipped, and tested for heart worms and other intestinal worms and parasites. All incoming dogs receive Drontal Plus de-wormer or its equivalent as an extra precautionary step to go above and beyond to keep our rescued dogs healthy. We feed our rescue dogs high quality dog food and supplements while they live in our foster homes. All these costs are paid for by our rescue. You won’t have to pay for these normal costs or bother with the headaches of having to take your new dog to a vet for all these procedures.

We strongly suggest that you complete the adoption application process before choosing a dog from our web page. Most of the dogs on this web page will have approved adopters already looking at them. We get new dogs on a regular basis. The application process can take a couple of weeks depending on your schedule. You will have access to all of our available dogs once you are approved to adopt a rescue dog. Please visit www.luckyshepherds.com for more information. Please note that we only serve the Greater Houston area. We do not adopt our dogs to homes outside of the Houston and its neighboring areas.

More about this rescue

Lani’s Lucky Shepherds volunteers are dedicated to saving as many German Shepherds in the Greater Houston Metro area as humanly possible - based on current resources of available foster homes, the rate at which we can find suitably matched adoptive homes, and of course, financial resources for veterinary care.

Lani’s Shepherds mostly come from animal shelters where they are awaiting euthanasia. All of these Shepherd Dogs need loving, forever homes and families to call their own. We have several GSDs available for adoption and we regularly take in more Shepherds under our wings and into our Rescue Program, increasing the numbers of dogs available for adoption. Whenever we can, we also work with other dog rescue groups in Texas and nationwide to help ensure the safety and security of these wonderful animals.
