My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Luna
The name Luna translates to Moon Goddess. Meet our little Moonbeam Luna! This gal is a huge personality packed into a small body. Luna is about a year and a half and weighs about 40 lbs. Luna came to us as an owner surrender, and low and behold...she was pregnant. She was a fabulous Mom to 7 healthy puppies. She has completed her mom duties and is now ready to be the love of someone's life. Luna, for the most part, likes other dogs, but she can be selective. She lives in a foster home with another female, and they do not get along now, although they were good together when Luna was mothering her pups. This new reaction to the female housemate could be due to the other female being selective and trying to push Luna around. She does get along well with the male in the foster home. She's been around dogs her entire life, so she is mostly dog-friendly, but a housemate would have to be Luna-approved. We are unsure if Luna would get along with cats, so she must be tested. Luna LOVES kids. She is sweet, kind, and friendly with them, so no worries there. Luna loves to cuddle and thinks she is a lapdog. She can be timid about car rides but enjoys them in the long run. She is a fan of running around her fenced yard and being a goofball, and she is a bit of a sun worshiper, preferring a nap in a sunny spot. Luna's only real bad habit is that she can be a digger, including trying to dig out of the yard. If she is monitored, this is not an issue, but she should not be trusted alone should boredom set in. If she gets bored, she may try to grab a shoe and taste it. This behavior can surely be dealt with by providing her with appropriate things to chew, like tough toys, Kongs, or maybe a treat puzzle or snuffle mat. She's smart, so keeping her mind busy and her body active will help her bloom into the fabulous dog we know she will be. So come meet this wee wonder....she will make you smile! Luna is in a foster home located in Westland, Mi.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Application:

The first step for adoption is the application. Filling out the detailed application lets us know which husky would be a good fit for your family. We think all of our dogs are perfect the way they are, but every home is not. This is why they have ended up with us. We are very thorough with this step. The first thing we do is review your application, if your veterinary references are up to par then we reach out to be sure you're still interested. Next, we contact the personal references, so please be prepared. It helps speed the process if you let your veterinarian and personal references know we will be contacting them. This step can take up to 1-2 weeks, although we try to get through it sooner.

Home Visit:

We will set up a good time with you for one of our volunteers to come meet with you. They interview all the household members, and make sure a Siberian Husky is suited for you. They will also help you understand the breed, and what they need as far as a family.

Meet & Greet:

After you have been approved for adoption, we can set you up to meet the dogs! You must bring any current pets to make sure they will get along. We have a network of foster homes, so it is preferred that you are willing to drive to meet any specific dog you are interested in. If for any specific reason you are not able to drive, transportation can usually be arraigned through volunteers, by a case-by-case basis.
