Thumper was 1 day away from getting the needle when he was brought to Wisconsin. Why would a young, beautiful, vibrant dog be next up for euthanasia?
Thumper was captured in the mountains of Kentucky with a pack of dogs. He didn’t know, like or trust humans. If you tried to put a leash on him, he would flop around, pull, bite on the leash and paw at it until his feet were bleeding. Because of his fear, you couldn’t pet him as he would hide in the back of the cage.
It took 4 days of dragging Thumper around the yard to get him to accept a leash. Three days later, he was off leash. Because Thumper is a pack dog, he accepts his role in the pack. He quickly became loyal and followed directions.
Thumper is listed as a mixed breed. He looks, acts, and feels like a border collie. He is very smart and shows his personality running in the woods and playing with other dogs. Thumper is NOT a dog that will lay on the couch and eat treats. He must be mentally and physically challenged. Look up border collie if you are unaware of their tendencies.
Thumper is estimated to be 2 years old. He has longer soft fur and is knockout gorgeous.
Thumper’s transformation has been phenomenal. He is starting to snuggle with his foster dad. He is allowing other people at work to pet him. Noises rarely startle him.
When Thumper first saw little humans, he ran away barking. He now lets a 2-year-old pet him and is starting to nose bump a baby.
He is very smart and gets along with other dogs. He played with an 8 pound dog and an 80 pound dog. He will stay away from dogs that want to be left alone. When he gets bored, he will explore and be a little mischievous.
If you are interested in Thumper, do some research on border collies so that you know what type of behavior to expect.
