Max was hit by a car a month ago and has been limping around in pain with untreated injuries ever since!
This sweet boy had a broken pelvis and isn't able to bear weight on one of his back legs. Because proper follow up and immediate surgery wasn't provided, at this point the surgeon recommends continuing with crate rest and pain medication, followed by intensive rehab to see if he's able to use the leg, otherwise we may need to follow up with surgery or amputation down the road... despite his pain he's been a sweet gentle boy and we are hoping to find him a quiet home for him to continue his recovering and that can follow through with his physical therapy as his healing continues. He's lived with cats previously and gotten along well with them, can be nervous with dogs but seems ok with calm gentle small ones. Please submit a foster or adoption application if you can give Max a quiet place to continue to heal Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Tan Age: 2yrs 1mths 3wks

More about this shelter
Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. is founded on the belief that all animals have a natural right to humane treatment including proper care and safe shelter. Due to overpopulation, there are insufficient homes for most cats and dogs. Some are lucky enough to find temporary shelter and a few even find permanent homes. However it is a devastating fact that the majority are either euthanized or forced to chance life without shelter.
To support our belief and to relieve the unnecessary suffering of animals, we shall:
1.Extend every effort to find, evaluate, and secure good adoptive homes for animals in our care.
2.Provide animals with medical services and behavior therapy to the extent of our ability.
3.Adhere to a “no-kill” policy: animals shall not be euthanized for the purpose of providing space for new animals.
4.Adhere to a 100% spay and neuter policy.
5.Maintain continuing humane education programs and in particular to schools.
