My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

From King of the Night Court to King of your heart!

Hello, darling Feyre. Oops, I mean, hi pals! My name is Rhysand. If you’ve fallen in love with my fictional namesake, you can expect the same love and loyalty from me! I’m a truly magical pup that anyone, High Fae or human alike, is bound to fall for. I’m an 8-month-old, 55-pound lab mix. My rescue story is almost as dramatic as the A Court of Thorns and Roses series. I was brought to the Riverside shelter with a badly fractured leg. Due to my injury, I was put on the euth list. This tragic tale took a turn for the better when my foster saved me! I’m now fully healed and ready to find my own faerie tale ending.

The fictional Rhysand has a reputation for being cold, but I’m quite the opposite! I seamlessly fit into my foster home with four other doggos. I’m always in a good mood and love making friends with all humans, kids included. I haven’t met any cats but I hope we’d be pals. I adore toys, going anywhere with you (especially if I get to socialize), and snuggle time. I’m an enchanting fella who can adapt to any setting!

In addition to my charming pawsonality, I’m also a very good boy. I am bathroom, house, and crate-trained. I love getting out to explore and I’m working on my leash training. My leg is all healed and it doesn’t need any other attention unless there is a change in mobility. I don’t have any separation anxiety, but I’m happiest relaxing with a toy by your side. For a puppy, I’m quite calm, totally devoted to my people, and absolutely magical!

This Rhysand is ready to say goodbye to the faerie lands of Prythian and hello to a furever home! Overall, I’m mellow for my age and don’t need an overly active home, just stimulation like other dogs, toys, walks, car rides, going to the store, etc. My life has had its fair share of plot twists and I’m ready to settle into my own happily ever after with you!

My adoption fee is $500 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
