My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Despite dogs in the home being beaten with belts, Dooley is a gentle and loving older dog. And obviously looks for the best in humans, no matter how they treat him.

If you want to know more about this dog, email us here: wacvolunteers@gmail.com!

* AGE: estimated to be about 5 years old.
* TEMPERAMENT: Despite his size, he's a lap dog! Dooley loves to cuddle.
* Why are they at the shelter? Owner was asked to surrender him because he
was not being treated the way a dog deserves to be.
* Any Health issues? Dooley has an eye infection that was left untreated, which
ulcerated part of the eye. Local nonprofit advocacy group Pound Pals Downriver
is funding medical treatment.
* How are they with other cats? Dogs? Dooley lived with another dog, though he
hasn't met any of our cats.
* Volunteer Comments? "My favorite dog!" " We love this animal."

Thank you for your interest in adopting a shelter dog!

** We DO give preference to applicants with verifiable dog experience (as a primary caretaker).

All dogs are spayed/neutered, heartworm negative unless otherwise indicated.

All dogs are up to date on age appropriate vaccinations and current on heartworm prevention!

All of our resident dogs are housetrained unless otherwise indicated.

Dog Fact: It will take the average dog 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to get used to a new environment and learn the routine, 3 months to finally feel like they are home.

Our adoption fee for canines is $95.
That fee covers: Spay/Neuter, Heartworm Test, Deworming, Flea Prevention, Current Heartworm Prevention and Vaccinations.

More about this shelter

The Wyandotte Animal Adoption Center acts as the adoption facility for Downriver Central Animal Control. The intake facility (located in Southgate, MI) handles all intakes (strays, abandoned animals, court cases...). The adoption facility (located in Wyandotte, MI) brings the animals over (if adoptable) and have completed their requisite holds at the intake facility. This can sometimes take a few weeks if the adoption center is at capacity. The facilities handle approximately 500-700 animals per year.
OUR ADOPTION FACILITY IS RESCUE FRIENDLY.
