My name is Silo!

- Happy, gentle, curious dog who can be shy at first and may need time to warm up to new people and things; a quieter lifestyle might suit him best

- Once he is comfortable with you he loves chest rubs and will lean into you or tap you for pets

- Loves balls, especially tennis balls!

- Enjoyed a Dog's Day Out field trip recently and did great in the car and on leash walks

- Very treat-motivated, and food is a great way to bond with him

- Knows sit, shake, down, stay and bed - he's very smart!

- Young, noisy or busy children can be too much for him, but he has done well with calm teenagers; may be happiest in a more mature home

- Previous family said he did very well with cats

- May take some time to warm up to new dogs and may prefer some dogs over others; would be most comfortable with a slow introduction to new dogs (dog intro required)

- Previous family said he was not a fan of loud noises, including loud stereo systems in cars, and that fast movements can also make him nervous

The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label.
