My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Bull is a handsome young Pyr boy with a long, white coat and perfectly square nose. Bull was rescued from a hoarding case where he was living in dire straights, and without human interaction. But now he’s in a foster home learning all about the kindness of humans, comfy dog beds, and the joys of sliced cheese! Bull is fast friends with all dogs, male and female, large and small. Dogs are clearly where he finds comfort, and he will need at least one other dog in his furever home. This playful pup prefers being outside, and his furever home should have a 6’ fenced-in yard so he can run and play with his doggie pals. Bull is non-reactive to cats. He doesn’t dig and only barks occasionally, choosing to spend his time romping with his canine buddies, or laying out in the tall grass. This gorgeous guy also enjoys lying down for a nap in the bathtub while it’s filling up with water (so long as the water isn’t dripping directly on him!). - He will lay in that puddle of water and fall asleep! Talk about the soothing sounds of running water! We bet he’d enjoy a kiddie pool in his furever home! Bull is timid around humans, as he just doesn’t know much about them, having grown up in a sea of only dogs. We can’t wait to see him blossom in rescue and come out of his shell! With time and patience, Bull will soon learn that humans come with snacks, hands equal pets, and that belly rubs are awesome!

Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.

We may consider fostering for some of our dogs who are in boarding. Please visit Fostering FAQfor an application and information about our fostering program.

If you can't foster or adopt at this time, please consider helping our Neediest Cases or making a tax-exempt donation by visiting our Donate page.

We are a non-profit, tax-exempt rescue who has been rescuing the breed for 15 years.  Visit nationalpyr.org to learn more about us, our mission and our breed.
