My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Say hello to Jasper, a 2-year-old cuddle bug...er, retriever mix...who just loves to be by his people and dog buddies. Jasper is a high-energy guy looking for a high-energy lifestyle filled with human and canine friends to run and play with. He's like a goofy toddler whose excitement for life is contagious. And like a toddler, Jasper needs structure, routine and opportunities to learn how to be the best version of himself. He's also motivated by snacks, which makes training time that much easier! Jasper is already potty trained and knows how to use a dog door, but can use continued training on walking well on a leash and not containing his excitement when he sees new people and things. Jasper loves to be outside, preferring even to take his naps outdoors on a comfy dog cot. When he's inside, Jasper loves to watch the world outside the front window, though he does bark at loud noises so apartment living would not be a good fit for him. Jasper's ideal home is with an active family, preferably with another social dog and perhaps some older children to run and play with. If you're willing to put in the time to teach Jasper, he's willing to give you all of his loyalty, love and affection in return! (Oh, did we mention he gives the best hugs?)

To meet Jasper, fill out an online application at http://caws.org/adoption-application. Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200. Additional adoption info

Since we make a lifetime commitment to any animal that comes into our program, we only adopt out animals to people in our area..

If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at http://www.caws.org/application/, email adopt@caws.org or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.

Go meet their pets

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.
