My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Hook!! Hook is almost 4 months old. Hook came to us after he was attacked by a dog. Luckily, with some TLC he has made a smooth recovery. Hook has a courageous attitude and not much gets him down. Hook is definitely the star of the show, and always catches peoples attention with his adorable face and playfulness. Hook is one of the smartest pups i've met, and he is both treat and toy motivated making training a breeze. Hook has a great sit, down, paw, spin, and more. You can find him enthusiastically engaged with his favorite toys, keeping boredom at bay. Although, he does struggle with some separation anxiety when you leave the room and he's not in his crate. Like any young pup, Hook exhibits some mischievous puppy behaviors – a penchant for finding clothing on the floor and proudly parading shoes around the house. He is actively working on this in my foster home. He is content in his crate and rarely barks unless he needs to go potty.

Despite all of Hooks wonderful traits, he would benefit being in a home with no kids under 12. Hook currently resides with 2 other dogs where he has show some early signs of reactivity especially around food. This proabably has to do with being attacked by another dog. I believe with some consistant training, Hook could live peacefully with another dog. Hook would make a wonderful companion for an individual or family. Apply to adopt Hook!

More about this shelter

The Oahu SPCA was founded in April of 2009 and launched its mission, "Every healthy, treatable animal will find a forever home." The overwhelming support of community members was instrumental in helping to establish the first animal shelter in the state of Hawaii with a "no-kill philosophy." On July 18, 2009, 432 animals were relinquished to the Oahu SPCA the Largest Animal Rescue in the history of Hawaii. The Oahu SPCA rescued all 432 animals in 48 hours after the owner of an animal sanctuary in Waianae passes away.
