My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Venus: the Roman goddess of love and beauty. Venus: also my name and, while I'm not Roman, I was picked up as a stray, roamin'. I am around 2 years old and 40 pounds, and have the most beautiful face you might have ever seen. When I was picked up, I tested positive for heartworm and was covered in urine stains, which means that I probably spent a lot of time outside, in a small area where I had to sleep on the same spot that I used the bathroom. This almost ended in a death sentence for me, until Multiple Breed Rescue agreed to take me, get me the treatment I needed, and give me a chance to find a real forever family.
I am partway through my heartworm treatment now. I have two injections to get still, on May 13 & 14. After that, I need another 30 days of low activity, then I can start resuming normal life. You don't need to worry about my heartworm, though. You can't catch it from me, and I can't give it to other pets in your home, so other than staying calm for a little while longer it's not really a big deal for me, and I hope it's not a deal breaker for you. Afterall, the alternative was that I was going to be euthanized, so picking treatment was a no brainer for me!
I've been in a foster home for a little while now, and my foster mom really loves me. I like to be in my crate, and I like to go on leashed walks, which works out well with my treatment plan. I get along great with the people I meet, including kids, and have gotten along great with other dogs, too. I love to get cuddles and pets from my foster family, and they like that I don't slobber them with too many kisses. I like to play with toys, and am very treat and food motivated. I don't chew things I shouldn't, I don't get into the garbage or take things off the counter, and I am potty trained so only do my business outside. Foster mom says I am the best girl, and she seems to really know what she's talking about, so I believe her when she tells me that. My ideal family is one that will take me on adventures, who has plenty of toys for me, and who will shower me with the love I deserve. Please pick me to complete your family!
All dogs available for adoption are in foster homes. Please do not visit the location as it is a privately run boarding, training, and grooming facility. Meet and greets are scheduled by appointment only for approved adopters.

Additional adoption info

Due to recent events, we use discretion when adopting to a home with children under the age of 5 and to an adult under 23. This does not mean you are automatically disqualified, but we may require additional information.

The adoption fee for all animals listed depends on the breed/species, age, vet care, cost to pull from the kill shelter, worming medicine, flea medicine, vaccinations, micro chip, etc. The adoption fee BARELY covers all of the previous mentioned expenses. Please do not ask for us to lower the fee.

All adopters must fill out an application. Please note: Once you submit an adoption application, it could possibly take up to 10 days to process. Thank you for your patience. Please email us for an adoption application at rescue@mbrohio.com or submit on our website http://www.mbrohio.com/adoption-application/

Go meet their pets

The dogs listed on this site are located at various foster homes throughout Ohio & some are located at a private boarding facility. Anyone wishing to visit one of our dogs or other animals must first complete an application and be an approved adopter before scheduling an appointment. Majority of scheduled appointments take place at a boarding facility in Grafton, Ohio

Please make a note that we do not transport our animals to you; you would need to come to Grafton Ohio to meet and possibly adopt.

More about this rescue

This site supports a small group of people who try to help as many animals that we can that have been displaced. All of the animals are checked by a vet, altered and updated on all vaccinations prior to going to a home.

We are all volunteers who do the best that we can with the limited funds and resources available to us. We give the potential adopter as much information as we can, including copies of all vet records but we normally do not know the history of the animals, as they are strays at the pound or taken by a humane officer from poor living conditions. Very rarely do we have owner releases. Most dogs in our program were minutes away from being put to sleep so the pound could make space for more strays.
