Patrick loves to spend time with his foster family and spend time outdoors with other dogs. He is currently fostered with two dogs: one small and one about his size. He was previously fostered with cats and did well with them as well. He gets along beautifully with everyone he meets and he is quick to warm up to new situations. Between his size (55 lbs), age ( 1-ish year), and disposition (sweet, sweet boy), we think Patrick would be a great family dog. Do you have a dog needing a friend? Pick Patrick!
Patrick is not a high energy dog but he does love to play. He does well on walks and runs and he looks forward to playing in the backyard. In the house, he is quite mellow and enjoys when it is time to lounge. If there's a sunny spot, you'll be sure to catch him there! Overall, Patrick is doing well with house manners. He is potty trained and obedient. If he is left unsupervised, he might find something to chew on. He is also learning to kennel and has made massive improvements, over his first few weeks in foster care. Given continued time, patience, and structure, we have no doubt Patrick will settle in to your family and routines.
In rescue, we like to share the 3-3-3 rule: the first three days after adopting, the dog is decompressing. The first three weeks are spent learning your rules and routines. It might take up to three months for your dog to feel totally integrated, comfortable, and secure. Please have patience when adopting - it is worth it!
