Lucille is Looking For: Her forever home! This sweetie with the super adorable short, stubby legs landed in the shelter due to no fault of her own. She's looking ahead to the time when she will have her own humans for long sniffy walks (hey, look at those legs. if she's got Basset in her - that hound nose is gonna work overtime!), romps in the park, and all the adventures they can dream up. Including pup cups from Starbucks - she's heard about those and is up for trying them! Quality kibble and a cushy dog bed are on her wish list as well.
But you know what? She's out of the puppy yips and as an experienced dog in her prime, she knows what's most important: Being safe and loved and under her own roof. In exchange, she promises adoring gazes and tail wags and loyal companionship. What do you say? Is that what you're looking for?

Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with kids or cats but she can be tested
Currently Living at: South Carolina shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get her freedom ride up here.

The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!
