My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How Smash arrived:
Smash was adopted out for a short time and returned to our care on 4/17/24.

At SDHS:
Smash is vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Smash is now ready for his new home!

Why this pet is the one for you:
This handsome fellow is Smash! Smash can be a little shy when meeting new people, but with a few treats and happy talk, Smash's tail will start wagging! The prior owner reported that he was very good with people he met, and that he is a very high energy guy! During the short time that Smash was adopted, he quickly learned how to use the doggie door to go out to do his business, and had no accidents. Once Smash gets settled into his new home, he will be a very energetic and playful fellow! If you are looking for a smart, super playful companion, Smash may be the perfect match for you! If you would like to meet Smash, grab a leash and collar and head to our Escondido Campus.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
