My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Rocky was brought in by his previous owner on 4/9/2024.

At SDHS:
Rocky has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. He is now ready for his new home!

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Rocky! This handsome high-energy guy is looking for a new loving place to call home where his needs and challenges can be met. He has a tendency to be impulsive and might be a bit rough with his body at times. He has lived with other dogs. We don't know how he is with cats. Since arriving at the shelter, he has been known to be sometimes reactive and sometimes neutral toward other dogs. His prior owners said he is housetrained. They also reported that he loved running, hiking, and walking and needs a lot of exercise. We recommend that he live in a quiet home of small size where any children are at least 12 years old. A pre-adopt behavior consult for arousal and fear is required. If you're the one to help Rocky be his best self, please visit him at our Escondido Campus!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
