My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Oat, a delightfully wholesome boy who is slowly turning into the best kind of comfort food for the soul.

Oat is sweet, gentle, and learning every day that the world isn’t so scary when you have patient people and a dog foster brother to show you the ropes. He’s settling beautifully into home life in his foster placement, taking in all the cozy routines, soft beds, and “yes, you can have another treat” moments.

He thrives in quiet, familiar environments where his people are nearby. Oat is not trying to be the life of the party. He is more of a “low-and-slow simmer” kind of guy who warms up at his own pace. Once he knows you, though, that winning smile comes out, and it’s worth every second you spent earning it.

He enjoys casual walks with his family and has a sincere appreciation for generous treat distribution. If you’re the type of person who likes rewarding small victories with snacks, Oat thinks you two will get along beautifully.

And here’s the extra sprinkle on top: Oat’s adoption fee is fully sponsored by the FredNats. That means this sweet guy is ready to step up to the plate and become the MVP of your home, without an adoption fee standing in the way.

Come meet Oat at the Fredericksburg SPCA and see why this lovable little grain is such a catch.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process is easy! No home visits, no reference checks. We have many dogs and cats available for adoption.
Our adoption fee includes spay/neuter surgery, microchip & registration, basic vaccines, rabies vaccine (4 months and older), age-appropriate blood testing (6 months and older), flea/tick/heartworm treatments, and deworming.
As a non-profit organization, our adoption fees help us to offset some of these costs.

Note - you must be 18 years or older to adopt.
