Henry is a black and brown Shepherd mix that has a lot of potential. He is a 4 to 5 month old 31 pound (and growing) pup that came to Mesquite Animal Shelter on 4/15 as a stray. I was met in his kennel with kisses. He was so excited to be outside his kennel that he wasn't interested in meeting other dogs. He had things to do and places to go! We went for a walk. He doesn't have a strong pull on the leash, but he did get tangled. Henry is an exuberant, enthusiastic, outgoing pup that appears to love everyone. Unfortunately, in his excitement and need for attention, he frequently jumps on you. Until he can learn not to do this, he could knock over a young child. Henry's previous owners did not teach him not to jump. He will need some manners training. He sometimes gets mouthy (probably because he's cutting his teeth). If you have patience and are willing to work with Henry, he will work with you. He's obviously intelligent and is highly motivated by treats. He has the potential to be a well- mannered, well-trained dog that would be a loyal companion. Are you up for this challenge? He would need a decent-sized yard to play in but would want to spend quality time in his new home with his new family.
