Meet Alex, a handsome Canaan Dog mix that arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 4/19 as a stray. He weighs 48 pounds and is about 3 years old. Alex has an exuberant nature, is lively, active and has a confident and outgoing personality. He knows the sit and shake commands. He is quite adept at fetching. His owner has definitely worked with this boy! However, he very well may have lived as an outside dog, judging from the amount of fly bites on his ears. He went to the potty outside. He likes treats, will sit for them and takes them nicely. He is friendly and more than willing to be petted and loved on. He walks well on a leash, but does pull some. Alex will jump on you. There is a lot to like about this boy, and though he would prefer to see his owners again and be reclaimed, he is quite willing to settle in with a person or family that would stay committed to him and give him the TLC he deserves. His main stipulation is that he does not want to live outside, but desires to be inside the home as an important part of the family circle.
