My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Say hello to Zee Zee!

Zee Zee bounced around between a few different homes, to no fault of her own, before finding her way to the SPCA and now she's looking for that special place to finally settle down in and call her own. While her story didn't have the happiest of starts, we are looking to find her happily ever after. Zee came to us somewhat under socialized and lacking many of the life skills a dog of her age should have. Because of this, Zee is looking for a dog-savvy adopter who understands her unique needs and is committed to providing a supportive environment where she can thrive. With consistent training and positive reinforcement, she's sure to gain confidence and become more comfortable in her own fur.

She is not suited for a loud or busy home, a home with small children, puppies, or other animals. Zee Zee has been through a lot in her three years, so what she needs most in life is a stable and calm home. Despite her initial anxiety, Zee Zee has a heart of gold and a playful spirit just waiting to shine. She loves nothing more than cuddling up with her favorite humans and showing off her goofy side with a game of fetch or a romp in the yard. Zee has immediately stolen the hearts of everyone here with her goofy smile and loveable personality; she's truly one of a kind. She is a very strong, active girl and it's important that adopters are able to keep her exercise needs met and are able to handle a strong dog (she's still learning her leash manners!)

Due to her history, she can has shown signs of having separation anxiety. It is extremely important that any potential adopter understands this kind of behavioral challenge and is prepared and informed. If you open up your heart to Zee, in return you'll get the most loyal, goofy companion you could ever want. If you think Zee Zee could be a good fit for you, please contact the Kamloops branch with any further questions or fill out an application below.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
