My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Poomba is an 11.5 year old Sable and White Smooth Boy. He's grown up in a family setting with three children, and is considered great with kids. The family didn't have a cat, so we don't know how he'd be with the feline element. He was socialized very well and has grown up and lived with several different dogs over the years and has never had any trouble making friends and getting along with other dogs. He's surprisingly agile for an older Collie and is in excellent health, with the blood tests to prove it!

It sounds as if Poomba may have spent most of his time outside, but the good news is that barking hasn't ever been an issue with the neighbors! He knows how to sit and comes to his name and walks well on a leash. I found him to be thoroughly charming, very gentle when taking treats, and well… the typically sweet Collie boy.

Why would a family give up this sweet guy they had since he was a puppy? Unfortunately, Poomba's family is leaving the country in June and does not want to put him through the trauma of all that. Therefore, they have turned to rescue to help find him a wonderful home for his remaining years - which could be as many as 3 or 4? Who knows? Count the love, not the years! Updated - 03.29.06
