My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Bruce, a cat as unique as his namesake-a striking black smoke tabby, a rarity among his kind. Named in honor of Bruce Adams, a cherished long-term volunteer who passed away in 2023, this feline Bruce embodies the intelligence and charm for which the human Bruce was known. Though initially shy as he adjusts to shelter life, Bruce's impressive appearance and clever disposition shine through.

Bruce Adams was not only beloved for his witty humor and deep affection for cats but also revered as a master storyteller who captivated all with his tales. Similarly, Bruce the cat is very smart and sweet, albeit cautious with new people. He is highly food motivated and becomes incredibly cuddly once he feels safe and comfortable, embodying the kind of transformation that human Bruce loved to witness.

Bruce the cat is seeking a loving home where he can continue to flourish and carry forward the legacy of a truly remarkable man.

More about this shelter

Founded in 1868, The SF SPCA is a community-supported nonprofit dedicated to saving, protecting and caring for cats and dogs. We do this through immediate care of animals that are homeless, ill or in need of an advocate, but we also work to educate the community, reduce the number of unwanted kittens and puppies through spaying/neutering, and improve the quality of life for animals and their companions.
