My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Astar, a 7-year old Alaskan Husky mix with a heart of gold. He is one of the recent sleddies we rescued from the dog sledding industry. Despite spending his early years tied to a chain, Astar has blossomed into a loving and affectionate companion since finding his way into foster care.
This handsome and charming fellow starts his days with a big stretch and a flurry of kisses, eager to greet his human each morning with his trademark 'smile'. Astar's affectionate nature shines through as he enjoys nuzzling and snuggling up to his human whenever he can, forming deep bonds with those he trusts.
While he may take a moment to warm up to new faces, Astar's gentle demeanor shines through in his interactions with other animals, including dogs of all genders, cats, and even young children. He's proven himself to be respectful and gentle, making him a wonderful addition to any household willing to extend a little patience and understanding.
Astar's journey to confidence has been marked by milestones, from conquering his fear of the car, to being a brave boy in the bath, tackling new adventures with gusto. Though he occasionally pulls on walks due to being used to running to pull a sled, a simple adjustment to the leash attachment transforms him into the perfect walking companion. With a love for exploration and an appreciation for the finer things in life (like bum scratches and belly rubs), Astar is happiest when he's out and about, taking in the sights and smells of the new world around him.
Astar's foster mom describes him as a low-energy sweetheart, equally content to snuggle up for a nap or embark on a thrilling hike. His playful side is emerging more each day, complete with goofy antics and a charming smile that lights up the room.
As Astar continues to build his confidence, he's on the lookout for his forever home — one where he'll be cherished for all the wonderful traits that make him unique. With his intelligence, humor, and boundless affection, Astar is sure to bring joy and laughter to the lucky family who opens their heart and home to him.
✳️ Astar’s adoption fee is $400. He has been dewormed, is microchipped, is UTD on vaccines and has been neutered.

More about this rescue

We are a registered not for profit Canadian organization that aids in adopting out Baladi dogs (and cats)from Egypt.
A Baladi dog is a stray dog that lives on the streets of Egypt. They are considered pests and abused, discarded and often poisoned. We have stepped in with the help of an amazing team in Cairo to help these dogs.
