Rescue FAQs
Baladi & Sled Dog Rescue of Ontario is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, providing veterinary care, and finding loving homes for dogs from the dog sledding industry. We also extend our reach locally by rescuing stray dogs and cats from Indigenous communities that we partner with.
Our rescue began saving street dogs and cats, AKA Baladis, in Egypt. Since the important on animals ban implemented in 2022, we are no longer allowed to bring animals into Canada from Egypt. Our efforts, however, expand globally, as we continue to help support the placement of Baladi's in Egyptian shelters.

While most of our animals are adopted within Southwestern Ontario, we have animals fostered throughout Ontario. This account focuses on our animals within the London area, from Windsor to Sarnia to Kitchener/Cambridge.
Adoption steps
- Submit ApplicationSubmit your application for adoption on our website (please choose the appropriate dog or cat application)
- InterviewA member of our team will connect with you and conduct a phone interview. We will then connect with 2-3 references. Please let them know.
- Home CheckWe do a home check via video. Please video all areas your pet will have access to, including the yard, if applicable.
- Approve ApplicationCongratulations! You're approved! A member of our team will reach out to let you know!
- Meet the PetWe will connect you with your future pets foster family to conduct a meet & greet!
- Sign Adoption ContractIf you decide to proceed with the adoption, we set up a day/time to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee.
- Take the Pet HomeCongratulations! It's time to take your new best friend home! We hope you will share photos and updates as the days, weeks, and years pass

We are a small group of volunteers working through applications as quickly as possible. This will sometimes take a few days. Bare with us, we will call you soon!
