My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you are looking for the complete package, say hello to Mr. Huey Beans, a young, male, 2-3 yr old American Bulldog mix who was found as a stray and brought into a local shelter. During his time at the shelter, Huey was a playgroup rockstar until he ended up with a URI and landed in isolation during a plumbing issue, which expedited his time stamp. His foster mom and dad quickly pulled him before his time stamp was up and continued his care in-home.

He has since recovered, and blossomed wonderfully in his foster home. Huey is incredibly smart, and knows the commands: come, sit, touch, down, shake, and possibly others. He is also very obedient and has great name recognition and comes immediately when called. He is very dog friendly as he currently lives peacefully with 4 other large dogs, and enjoys playing with his furry foster siblings day and night. He would really enjoy another playful, tolerant dog to live with! He has lived harmoniously with cats, after being redirected from chasing. Dog-savvy cats will be best for Huey's forever home.

Huey is crate trained and goes in on command and sleeps peacefully there or in bed with you-whichever you'd like. He eats his meals in his crate, and shares his toys with his furry foster siblings. He is also 100% potty trained and has never had a single accident in his foster home. He can be strong on a leash but is non-reactive and easily redirected. Huey has great stamina and can go on long walks and hikes with his forever family! He also enjoys chewing on bones, snuggling with his people on the couch, and giving big hugs.

Huey does not enjoy his nails being trimmed, but who does? Over time he may be desensitized as he gets more comfortable and builds trust. Huey would thrive in home with children 12 and up, as young children's loud toys seem to make him nervous.

Huey has the biggest, dopiest smile and the most uncoordinated run, and will surely keep you smiling. He is an entertaining dog who is happy-go-lucky and full of life!

If you are looking for an incredibly loyal, smart, easily-trained pup that loves to snuggle, Mr. Huey Beans is ready to be your best friend!

Huey is fully vetted, neutered, and UTD on all vaccinations. If you think Huey would be a great addition to your family, head to www.zoeshouserescue.com to fill out an application!

More about this rescue

Who We Are:
Zoe's House, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal welfare group based out of Sinking Spring,PA. We are comprised solely of volunteers that generously volunteer their time, their homes and their hearts. We are dedicated to rescuing homeless, neglected or abandoned animals from high kill shelters or from owners who can no longer care for them. We provide the animals with loving foster care, veterinary treatment and rehabilitation until we are able to pair them with compatible and loving forever homes. At times we also offer permanent sanctuary to those with special or medical needs and that are considered unadoptable.

Zoe's House serves as a resource to our community and to our adopters by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, the importance of spay/neuter, behavior training, nutrition, puppy mill awareness, heartworm preventative and breed education. Our organization also networks with other shelters and rescues. We try to assist other organizations when possible.

Zoe’s House is not federally funded, and relies solely on donations to continue to rescue. Although we are not breed specific, the need to save Dobermans, Rottweilers, German Shepherds and Pitbulls is ever growing; therefore, we have focused primarily on saving the lives of our beloved and majestic strong breeds.

What We do:
There are many people involved in the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of each dog we take in. Our rescue effort starts with the initial intake request for a dog. Whether this be at a shelter of from an individual in the community, we try to gather as much information as we can. We then pickup or transport the dog to safety in rescue. At this time we administer immediate veterinary care to determine the health of the dog and ensure the animal has proper immunizations. We also have bloodwork done for a heartworm check, lyme, fecal and sometimes a blood panel depending on the age and health of the dog. The dog remains in "in-home" foster care and becomes a part of the fosters family for an undefined period of time. We evaluate the dog and work on basic manners and obedience. At times we have dogs for a longer duration due to health and/or age. The dogs in our care come with us to adoption events, home screenings, and ultimately permanent placement. Zoe's House then provides post-adoption follow-up and support and welcomes the new family to the "Zoe's House Family!" We strive to stay in close contact with all of our adopters to ensure the transition and life long relationship continues to be magical. We remain dedicated to the principal that we never want one of our rescues to end up in a shelter or in a home that does not provide a responsible and loving environment for the life of the animal.

We truly believe that one dog at a time... we are making a difference!
