My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Nala is a stunning 10 year old petite pittie mix. Even though she's getting older she is full of energy ! A family that can be very active with her and take her out on walks/hikes/runs as well as someone who has a fenced in yard would give her the opportunity to fully flourish. She is defenitly a people dog and loves to be with her human/ humans. She'll even love to go on car rides with her new family. She is an extreme attention hog and would be best suited for a home where she could receive all the attention and not have to share,as she can also be pretty selective with other animals. She currently resides in a home with 2 small children and does well with them, however she does get super excited at times and forgets that she needs to be careful around them so she doesn't knock them over. She is leash trained and needs to be crated when home alone but doesn't love to be in her crate
for long periods of time. She is currently taking something to help her deal with her separation anxiety and her new home would need to be ok with administering her 1 pill a day. A family that can be home with her quite often would be a good fit for her. If you're looking for a lifetime companion that will stay by your side, then Nala might be the one for you !

More about this rescue

Who We Are:
Zoe's House, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal welfare group based out of Sinking Spring,PA. We are comprised solely of volunteers that generously volunteer their time, their homes and their hearts. We are dedicated to rescuing homeless, neglected or abandoned animals from high kill shelters or from owners who can no longer care for them. We provide the animals with loving foster care, veterinary treatment and rehabilitation until we are able to pair them with compatible and loving forever homes. At times we also offer permanent sanctuary to those with special or medical needs and that are considered unadoptable.

Zoe's House serves as a resource to our community and to our adopters by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, the importance of spay/neuter, behavior training, nutrition, puppy mill awareness, heartworm preventative and breed education. Our organization also networks with other shelters and rescues. We try to assist other organizations when possible.

Zoe’s House is not federally funded, and relies solely on donations to continue to rescue. Although we are not breed specific, the need to save Dobermans, Rottweilers, German Shepherds and Pitbulls is ever growing; therefore, we have focused primarily on saving the lives of our beloved and majestic strong breeds.

What We do:
There are many people involved in the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of each dog we take in. Our rescue effort starts with the initial intake request for a dog. Whether this be at a shelter of from an individual in the community, we try to gather as much information as we can. We then pickup or transport the dog to safety in rescue. At this time we administer immediate veterinary care to determine the health of the dog and ensure the animal has proper immunizations. We also have bloodwork done for a heartworm check, lyme, fecal and sometimes a blood panel depending on the age and health of the dog. The dog remains in "in-home" foster care and becomes a part of the fosters family for an undefined period of time. We evaluate the dog and work on basic manners and obedience. At times we have dogs for a longer duration due to health and/or age. The dogs in our care come with us to adoption events, home screenings, and ultimately permanent placement. Zoe's House then provides post-adoption follow-up and support and welcomes the new family to the "Zoe's House Family!" We strive to stay in close contact with all of our adopters to ensure the transition and life long relationship continues to be magical. We remain dedicated to the principal that we never want one of our rescues to end up in a shelter or in a home that does not provide a responsible and loving environment for the life of the animal.

We truly believe that one dog at a time... we are making a difference!
