As Abu and his siblings ( and Mom) found themselves in a rural and always over crowded shelter , never a good place for any dog, but especially for a sold black Mom ( black dogs are often overlooked in shelters ) and young puppies ( disease can spread quickly in shelters ).
As we searching for fosters , we found out another GSD rescue was also, MAGSR.org , so we teamed up and saved Mom and family.
Abu and his sisters came to ASR.....Anko and Aria , and are settling in well in their foster homes.
They are adorable happy social puppies. Mom is some kind of GSD mix :-) , but since she weighs 41 lbs and her pups are around 7 lbs at 8 weeks, we expect their maximum size will be 45-50 lbs., what we call " Pocket Shepherds " .
All puppies are cute but please keep in mind they are a 10-15 year commitment, the expense associated with puppies including health care, training and of course, a few chewed up shoes while they are teething :-)
Up to the age of 8 months old, puppies cannot be left alone for a standard 8-9 work day. Arrangements will have to be in place for 4 hour intervals until the pups are at least 8 months old.
Having someone with them every 4 hours until they are older greatly facilitates the housebreaking process as well as assists with the general socialization of your pup !
