Anko is crate trained. She sleeps in the crate at night and whenever I need to leave the house - ( never more than two hours. )
She is also learning how to walk on a leash and working on being housetrained.
She makes it through the night in her crate for 6 hours which is great for a little one like her.
She also gets along with cats as we have one and other dogs.
I think like many puppies she really enjoys the company of the other dogs but when she is tired she will curl up either by my feet or by my desk. She loves people :-)
.......and she loves tummy rubs. What a sweet puppy !
As ANKO and her siblings ( and Mom) found themselves in a rural and always over crowded shelter , never a good place for any dog, but especially for a solid black Mom ( black dogs are often overlooked in shelters ) and young puppies ( disease can spread quickly in shelters ).
As we were searching for fosters , we found out another GSD rescue was also, MAGSR.org , so we teamed up and saved Mom and family.
ANKO and her sister ARIA and her brother ABU came to ASR.....and are settling in well in their foster homes. They are adorable happy social puppies. Mom is some kind of GSD mix :-) , but since she weighs 41 lbs and her pups are around 7 lbs at 8 weeks, we expect their maximum size will be 45-50 lbs., what we call " Pocket Shepherds " .
All puppies are cute but please keep in mind they are a 10-15 year commitment, the expense associated with puppies including health care, training and of course, a few chewed up shoes while they are teething :-)
When applying to adopt one of our puppies, please remember :
Up to the age of 8 months old, puppies cannot be left alone for a standard 8-9 work day. Arrangements will have to be in place for 4 hour intervals until the pups are at least 8 months old.
Having someone with them every 4 hours until they are older greatly facilitates the housebreaking process as well as assists with the general socialization of your pup !
