Matey is a sweet little pup who likes to follow his nose! He is 1.5 years old and 20 lbs. Brought into the shelter as a stray, he's now living the good life in his foster home. He lost his right eye to an infection, but as you can see from the photos, that doesn’t affect him living his best life and he's learned to navigate the world just fine. Hopping into the car for a ride or rushing up the stairs is no problem for this guy! Matey needs verbal cues when you approach from his blind side, which is why he would do best in a home with older kids who understand that. He loves to play with dogs and would enjoy a fenced yard to allow his Beagle nose free roam. He is house and crate trained, and a home on the quieter side and with people that are home often would be best. Matey's ideal family will be able to provide structure and routine, and continue to train him on basic commands and verbal cues to compensate for that missing eye. Matey is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines.. Matey is fostered in PA and will be attending our Adoption Event. Save time, fill out an Application to be preapproved to adopt at our event. Preapproved adopters may schedule appointments to meet dogs on Friday, May 17th.
Our pets are in CT, GA and PA foster homes. Dogs in PA may be able to come to CT prior to the event to meet adopters. Dogs in GA will arrive right before the event so you must come to the event to meet them. Fill out an online application to start the adoption process.

Approve Application
We will contact you via email to let you know the status of your application. Check your Spam folder if you don't hear back.

Interview
A phone or virtual interview will be scheduled to discuss your application and answer questions. Interviews are also done at our Events.
4.
Meet the Pet
Adoption Event is May 17-19th at the Durham Fairgrounds. Our pets are currently in CT, GA and PA foster homes.
5.
Sign Adoption Contract
All dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated to age and micro-chipped. Adoption Fee is paid to the Rescue (typically $350-600.)

We adopt dogs to residents of Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire & Maine. We can't adopt to Massachusetts residents because of their laws concerning rescue animals. All adoptions occur in Connecticut.
