My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Bubba, the charming gentleman with a heart of gold! Bubba is a 6 year old neutered male who's journey brought him to the shelter when his previous owner faced challenges in caring for him. Don't let that deter you, though, because Bubba is a shining example of good manners and canine joy! His happiness radiates through his full body wiggles and affectionate kisses. According to his previous owner, Bubba dreams of a forever home with a fenced yard where he can frolic freely. Active outdoorsy types, rejoice! Bubba is your ideal adventure buddy, ready to join you on hikes and swims, making every moment brighter with his infectious enthusiasm. If you're ready to welcome a loyal and spirited companion into your life, Bubba is eagerly awaiting your visit at the shelter!

Bubba is currently eligible for rescue, foster and adoption. Head to ACCT Philly any day of the week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or email foster@acctphilly.org to express interest in fostering him!

Behavioral:
Per Volunteer Day Trip on 4/28:
Bubba did well in the car ride to the park he was on a seat belt he did bark most of the ride. I feel like it was part of the restraint of not reaching me and a bit overwhelmed Not knowing where he was going. When we got to the park he was happy. He followed the volunteers child on the path on the trail and loved being near the child. He walked fast on the trail but on the way back he walked nicely and stopped and smelled spots more. We found a little stream that he loved waking in. We took a break before heading back and he coved us with kisses. Then we went to get ice cream which he enjoyed. Back at ACCT he met a small dog at the fence and did amazing. Very sweet dog. Probably could live with children 10 and up he wasn't jumpy at all with their 10 year old.

Per Volunteer Day Trip 4/28:
Bubba did so good today on our day trip! He loves to go on walks and sniff around. He can pull on leash at times and be a little strong but overall he is pretty good. When passing dogs on the walk he pretty much would look at them and keep walking. Bubba loved to lay out in the sun on a blanket! He's very affectionate and loves to be pet! Bubba is a little nervous in the car and can bark and whine. Overall Bubba did very well today!

Per staff on 4/26: A big sweetheart! Very well mannered man, loves to play!

More about this shelter

The Animal Care & Control Team of Philadelphia (ACCT Philly) is the region’s largest animal care and control service provider. ACCT Philly is an independent, 501c3 nonprofit organization, contracted by the City of Philadelphia to provide animal control services. Our animal control officers provide service over 142.6 square miles to the city’s more than 1.5 million residents and ACCT Philly’s facility in North Philadelphia handles more than 17,000 of the city’s animals, from dogs and cats, to small animals, reptiles, birds and wildlife, annually.

In addition to animal control and sheltering, ACCT Philly is open 365 days a year for pet adoptions. ACCT Philly also supports a foster care program where community members provide temporary homes for sheltered animals and one of the (if not THE) most extensive rescue partnership program in the country where approved rescue partners accept ACCT Philly animals into their adoption programs. Under contract ACCT Philly’s Animal Control Officers provide animal control services and code enforcement. Other exciting ACCT Philly programs include a food pantry for low-income pet owners, a vibrant volunteer program, trap-neuter-return for community cats, a unique Pen Pal program to assist dogs at risk … and so much more!
