My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*** Mama Bear is at our Petsmart Encinitas adoption center. ***

Black/orange tortoiseshell, short hair, spayed female, born approx. 9/1/21, #18539

Cats: okay
Dogs: no thanks
Children: older respectful kids

Mama Bear was originally rescued from the street as a pregnant mama. She was fending for herself with one kitten in tow and was already pregnant again. Her older baby soon got adopted while Mama Bear stayed with us for longer in order to raise her next six babies and see them to independence and adoption. Though she found a home with humans that welcomed her, the resident cat did not, and Mama Bear was reluctantly brought back to The Rescue House to find a home where everyone is happy to have this sweetie around!

Mama Bear certainly had a rough patch before coming into our care, but with her calm and sunny disposition you would never know it. She is a very affectionate kitty who will twist upside down to gaze up at you. She may only have one eye, but it's sure a pretty one! Mama Bear unfortunately lost the other due to a severe infection early in her first stay that made it unsalvageable. She has adapted well to the change though of course has a bit of a blind spot for peripheral vision on that side. She certainly likes to play! Wand toys are great and she also fancies an automatic toy mat. Mama Bear is so cute and loves to get lots of pets. She's a champion napper and will find the sunniest spot around so she can get her all nice and warm... and preferably you will be around so you can hang out together.

Mama Bear was around other cats in her foster home and while she'd rather not live in a large clowder can certainly share space with a mellow and welcoming kitty. She likes a nice quiet life, so overly rambunctious young children may not be her cup of tea but older respectful ones would likely be okay. She would prefer a dog-free home.

Mama Bear will make a wonderful companion for her new family!
