My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pansy, a delightful 2-year-old terrier mix, has a story that tugs at the heartstrings, beginning her journey as a stray on Mannis Rd in Madisonville. Alongside her sibling, she navigated the challenges of life without a home, showcasing the resilience and spirit characteristic of terriers. Despite her early uncertainties, Pansy's tale is one of hope and the potential for a new chapter. This young canine, with her mix of terrier traits, likely exhibits a blend of intelligence, curiosity, and energy, making her an ideal companion for someone who appreciates the engaging and spirited nature of terrier breeds. Her background as a stray from Mannis Rd adds a layer of depth to her story, reminding us of the countless animals in search of a second chance and the loving homes awaiting them.

More about this shelter

Concern over a large, and ever increasing, population of homeless dogs and cats, instigated the opening of the Monroe County Animal Shelter.
A not-for-profit organization, Monroe County Friends of Animals help the shelter by providing volunteers, fundraising events, grant writing and more. There is always a need for more volunteers. With a small budget, donations are a welcome necessity. We have developed educational programs to promote spay/neuter and humane care of all animals.
